Rittman High School does not currently have an active vision or mission statement, so I created my Technology Vision statement to match what I would like to accomplish and incorporate to better my students.

RITTMAN HIGH SCHOOL NAMED 2015 OHIO SCHOOL OF PROMISE

Below is an excerpt from a Letter of Congratulations from our Interim Superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of Ohio...
It’s easy to say that every child, in every school in Ohio, should receive a high-quality education. But it takes hard work and extraordinarily committed educators to make that happen, especially when many students enter the classroom each day challenged by circumstances beyond their schools’ control.
Your building has shown it is up to the challenge. I’m pleased to tell you that the Ohio Department of Education has named Rittman High School a 2015 Ohio School of Promise based on your 2015 Ohio School Report Card. This is the 2nd year your school has received this honor.
As one of 22 elite Schools of Promise in Ohio, you have set a strong example of what educators, parents and community members can achieve when they work together with student achievement as the goal. I thank you for your leadership and ask you to pass on my thanks to others who share in your success.

Technology Vision
I want to be a teacher that is constantly learning and developing my skills to better prepare my students for their future. This program has allowed me to develop 21st century skills, that I will be able to teach to my students to make them 21st century learners. From my gained knowledge, I will be able to help out my colleagues that wish to learn more about technology. Technology is here to stay, so we much adapt to the changing future.

Background Information Regarding My Technology Vision:

When determining what I wanted to design my vision around, I decided I needed to take a look at my own classroom. I am about to start my 7th year of teaching, and wanted to learn to incorporate technology fully within my classroom. Since I started teaching, I have been using a SmartBoard that has been provided in my classroom. When I first started out at East Palestine, my only request was a Smartboard and I never thought that I would walk into a newly installed one on the first day of work. I immediately begin reworking all of my lesson plans to incorporate this new tool. When I switched to Rittman High School, I had many more tools that were added to my collection. I now have access to a GradeCam, SmartBoard, and this past year we replaced all of our laptops with 1-1 chrome books. I wanted to fully involve these tools with 21st century learning, instead of just using them in my classroom.

With the rollout of the 1-1 chrome books we are able to have the students sign a waiver to take them home. Many of our teachers are making the transition to Google Classroom. This way everyone will have access to everything that is uploaded to Google Classroom and will have a resource to be able to write papers. Our district is a low income district school and many of our students do not have these luxuries at home. This has allowed them to advance their learning in and outside of the classroom. With these new tools at hand, it has motivated me further to find new tools and apps to use with the new chrome books. Gaining my Masters in Instructional Technology through the University of Akron has provided me with these new tools. There are so many applications out there that I never knew existed. Just this past year alone, I have been able to use Kahoot, Remind, Google Classroom, and Edmodo. My students are gaining more control of their learning and some are really starting to flourish. It is a great feeling watching what I have learned contribute to further their learning. After all, I am a teacher to help my students prepare for their future.
